LaKia is experienced in the Sound Card System, Talk Tools Oral-Motor Placement Therapy, the Beckman Oral Motor Protocol, SOS Approach to Feeding, Sensory-Motor Feeding Therapy, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and CPR. She has extensive experience in pediatric oral motor and feeding disorders.

LaKia comes to Monkey Mouths from the Early Intervention setting, where she developed a passion for connecting with families to aid in improving overall quality of life, through functional communication. During her time in ECI, she developed a unique interest in feeding and swallowing disorders, and serving the medically fragile child. LaKia believes in taking a family-centered approach to speech and feeding therapy; and prides herself on the ability to carryover strategies for optimal success in the home.

In her free time, LaKia enjoys playing softball, volleyball, reading, research and spending time with friends and family. She’s excited for the opportunity to serve and meet the needs of your children!
