Team Member Bio

I’m Karen McPhearson, M.S., CCC-SLP and I joined Monkey Mouths in 2022, as a speech-language pathologist. I earned my undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!) and my master’s degree from the University of North Texas. Prior to Monkey Mouths, I worked in private practice and multi disciplinary pediatric clinic settings.

I strongly believe that the foundation of any successful therapy is the relationship between the child and the therapist. Building a strong relationship with each of my clients and tailoring my therapy to their individual strengths, challenges, and interests is critical to helping them master their goals and use their newly learned skills at school, home, and everywhere in between. Parental involvement is another important part of my therapeutic process, and I strive to provide parents with the tools and the confidence to support their child.

When I am not working, I love spending time with my two rescue dogs, Mila and Conrad, and my fiancé. I am a “food explorer” and love trying new foods — especially spicy ones. I love shoes and a sure-fire way to get a smile on my face is to compliment my shoes! I also enjoy exercising, watching cooking shows, and playing board games. I look forward to challenging you at a board game in therapy very soon!
