I’m Sophia Montez, M.S., SLP-Intern, and I joined Monkey Mouths in 2026 as a speech-language pathologist clinical fellow. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas and my graduate degree from West Coast University in Dallas, Texas. Before joining Monkey Mouths, I gained experience working in a pediatric hospital, home health, private practice, and school settings. I currently provide services at our Fort Worth and Summer Creek clinics.
I am passionate about helping children develop the communication skills they need to confidently express themselves and connect with the people around them. My therapy approach focuses on creating a supportive, engaging, and play-based environment where children feel comfortable learning and exploring new skills. I strive to make each session meaningful and motivating by incorporating a child’s individual interests while using evidence-based practices. I also believe that strong collaboration with families and caregivers is essential, as it helps carry over strategies from therapy into everyday routines.
My clinical interests include augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), language development, and pediatric feeding. I am dedicated to supporting children and their families by providing individualized care that promotes functional communication and positive mealtime experiences.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, visiting museums, cheering on the Dallas Mavericks, trying new restaurants, and spending time with my family and friends.
I have training and specialization in the following:
Autism Techniques/Social Language Techniques:
Handwriting, Fluency and Voice Techniques:
Augmentative Communication Techniques:
