This intermediate course is designed to advance the skill level of the current feeding therapist. We will discuss feeding as an integral part of a whole developmental interplay of medical, psychological, motor, sensory, and behavioral components. We will analyze case studies of normal versus abnormal feeding patterns, problem-solve how to incorporate principles from established feeding programs into individualized care plans, and learn specific therapy techniques. This course will stress a comprehensive and team approach to feeding therapy, including collaboration with physicians, dentists, occupational/physical therapists, and counselors.
